London New Year's Eve Fireworks 31 December 2008
London Eye, Central London
Midnight
Cost: FREE
The spectacular Mayor of London New Year's Eve fireworks display will once again be launched at midnight from the imposing London Eye on the banks of the River Thames in central London. The 10 minute display will start immediately after the chimes of Big Ben ring out 2008 and the start of 2009.
The New Year's Eve fireworks display attracts a huge crowd to central London, making it one of the busiest nights of the year. The fireworks display viewing areas have a limited capacity of
180,000 people and many bars, restaurants and clubs will be limited to ticket holders only and require advance booking.
Westminster bridge and the North embankment, opposite the London Eye,
offer the best viewpoints for the fireworks...but will naturally be the busiest and most popular places, so you'll probably need to get there before 9pm for any sort of chance of a place...
