Are you keen to try a new Olympic sport?
With only two years to go until the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Coventry and Warwickshire 2012 Partnership are inviting festival goers to come and test your skills in a fun and exciting way across a selection of Olympic sports.
Run on Sunday 4th July as part of Coventry's Godiva Festival 2010, the UK's biggest and best free family festival, the CSWP Olympic Sport Zone will include:
Cycling – (Rollapaluza Roller Racing)
Two cyclist's battle it out head to head on a pair of vintage rollers connected to a huge dial over a simulated 500m distance at speeds in excess of 50mph!
Fencing – (Salle Ursa Fencing Club)
“En Garde!”– draw your foil and become a master of the sword.
Gymnastics – (Synergy Gymnastics)
Test flexibility and core strength in some floor routines and watch demonstrations on Synergy’s amazing Air Track!
Judo – (Coventry Judo Club)
Grapple, hold and throw yourself into this Judo experience.
Rowing – (Stratford Upon Avon Boat Club)
Go head to head with a friend over 500m where race progress can be followed in real time on TV screen.
Rugby – (Rugby Football Union)
Inflatable’s and mini skill games will be available to test every aspect of your game.
Taekwondo – (Coventry TKD)
Receive expert tuition on the ancient martial art of Taekwondo.
Local clubs, sports organisations and National Governing Bodies will all be present to give you expert advice and information about how to get involved in these sports locally. You can also find out information on the benefits of participating in sport and physical activity related programmes.
Taster sessions will be available throughout the duration of the Olympic Sport Zone event and will be free of charge with all equipment provided.
