One of Moley's helpers was lucky enough to attend the press day at The Public on Tuesday and has put pen to paper to tell us about it:

"Ventured out today to go one of Britain’s largest and most ambitious cultural building projects, The Public in Sandwell, West Bromwich.

The outside of the building really stands out and makes for a fun inviting venue for anyone from the age of 3 all the way up to senior citizens.

The Public’s opening weekend is on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th June from 9am til 11pm. A packed weekend is on offer, with free performances in the theatre, music on the square, lots of children’s activities and guided tours.

Experience “The Whale by Talking Birds” which is huge shiny aluminium whale inviting audience participation with lot’s of surprises. In the Longroom there will be workshops and story telling with a free pack to take home at the end as well as many many more fun, interactive activities.

Had lot’s of fun experiencing the digital waterfalls, flying avatars, winding paths and sound tunnels and discovered that at the The Public, it is all about the enjoyment of audience participation. There is a wide range of accessible, entertaining, educational and inspirational activities to support this digitally interactive day out!

The venue is very open and airy and with some spectacular views out towards the Black Country. Sit back and relax in one of the cafes or just have a stroll around viewing the informal exhibitions. You can make your visit a memorable one by purchasing unique gifts from the public gallery’s “Make” area at the end of your tour where visitors view there profiles and create their own customised pieces of art to take home.

The Public is a great place for families and kids who want to experience and participate in art, interactive creativity and enjoy the vast array of exhibitions and musical and dance performances."
