The top 5 boys names are:

    1. Jack
    2. Thomas
    3. Joshua
    4. Oliver
    5. Harry

The top 5 girls names are:

    1. Olivia
    2. Grace
    3. Jessica

    5. Emily

According to the report, celebrities and the names that celebrities give their children continue to have a marked effect on the popularity of names in the UK. Theo (after footballer Theo Walcott), Shane (2005 X Factor winner), Peaches (Sir Bob Geldof's newly married daughter) have all had a boost this year.

And according to an article on the BBC website, many traditional names are dying out too.

Girls names out of favour include: Gertrude, Edna, Ethel, Irene, Ada, Norah and Olive.

Boys names you don't see too many of these days include: Norman, Walter, Percy, Harold, Ernest, Herbert and Clifford. (last time I heard Norman or Clifford was in Cheers!... Smile )
