The Balham and Tooting Carival will take place on 30 and 31 August 2008 and will see Tooting Bec Common transformed into
a playground of the senses for South London’s first annual local
carnival.
The Balham and Tooting Carnival is a unique multi-cultural event that
aims to foster community spirit in a celebration of the music, cuisine,
arts and entertainment of this diverse and vibrant South London
community.
Highlights of the carnival include:

- Arts and crafts stalls

- Music and art workshops

Staged by M4C Events Ltd, the fundraising arm of children’s charity
Music4Children, The Balham and Tooting Carnival is a key part of the
charity’s ethos to use music to educate and financially improve the
lives of children, both locally and abroad.
All profits will benefit local charities; Re-Play Music (Merton
Abbey Mills), Raw Material Music and Media (Brixton), the Friends of
the Neo Natal Unit at St. George's Hospital (Tooting) and
Music4Children - all of which are working to improve the lives of
children in South London.
The event will also promote eco-sustainability, both in the way it's
produced - using green energy, recycling and waste reduction
initiatives - and by raising awareness of environmental issues.
