The BBC is to track the movements of a humble shipping container for 12 months, showing the container's progress around the world online.
Bizarre, but potentially fun and certainly instructive for inquizitive minds (both young and old), BBC News have painted and branded a shipping container, just like the ones you see in docks and bolted onto lorries, and fitted it with a GPS transmitter so its progress can be followed as it travels around the world.
The BBC hopes that its shipping container will travel to the US, Asia, the Middle East and Africa - and it plans for BBC news correspondents to report on who is producing the goods it is carrying and where they are going.
Starting in Southampton, the project, called The Box, can be tracked on the BBC's webpage.
