A report has confirmed what many have susspected for a long time - that girls have a lead in both verbal, non-verbal and visual skills by the time they start school.
The study of 15,000 UK children by the Institute of Education in London showed a two month lead- and that girlswere already pulling ahead of boys by the age of 3.
Though the top 10% of the ability range has roughly the same number of boys as girls, there were far fewer girls in the lower scoring groups.
The research also found that girls had fewer behavioural problems than boys.
